About Us

Pamela Rice is the founder of Recovery Through the Light House, Inc. Ms. Rice founded the organization to help other young women with a history of trauma and abuse. Ms. Rice openly shares her experience from when she was a teenager, as she was victimized by a family member in 1971. To protect her, Ms. Rice’s mother moved her and her younger sister out of the home of the abuser several times, often returning unable to care for herself and the children. In 1972, Ms. Rice was diagnosed with a nervous condition as a result of her abuse and placed on nerve pills at the age of 16; it was at that time, the family moved into their own apartment where the environment was much calmer. Although, Ms. Rice’s mother had a good paying job, sadly, it was not enough to financially care for her children. So, they had to return to the home of her abuser. After several months, Ms. Rice’s mother got a better job and left the home again with no looking back in 1974. Several years thereafter, Ms. Rice continued her healing process and her journey involved many experiences that helped her to heal from her abuse; and in 2005, Ms. Rice gave birth to Recovery Through the Light House, Inc. to help protect and serve other young women with a history of trauma and abuse.

Recovery Through the Light House, Inc. envisions a community where individuals will feel free to seek and receive the tools and resources, they need to create a better way of life. RTTLH will provide links to community resources that will offer support and assistance geared towards self-empowerment and long-term sustainability. RTTLH will offer programs to help residents achieve their personal goals in the areas of education, employment and vocational training, budgeting, and housing as well as connections to services to address addictions and substance abuse, trauma, and mental health concerns. Our vision is to build the young women up through encouragement and assist them in working towards individualized goals leading them to a more successful and productive life.
